Toyota Prius, Ford Super Duty, and Kia EV9 Triumph as 2024 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year (NACTOY) awards have just rolled out, and the winners have us buzzing. After sifting through a pool of 52 new cars, trucks, and SUVs, the jurors, led by Autoblog Editor-In-Chief Greg Migliore, have cast their votes.

Toyota Prius and Prius Prime Shine in the Car Category

In a nod to eco-conscious driving, the 2024 North American Car of the Year title lands in the capable hands of the Toyota Prius and Prius Prime. This marks Toyota’s second NACTOY victory, with the last one dating back to 2004 when the second-generation Prius took center stage. Notably, the Prius duo claims the hybrid throne this year, edging out tough contenders like the Honda Accord and the Hyundai Ioniq 6.

Ford Super Duty Hauls in the Truck Category

The roar of a combustion engine echoes in the 2024 North American Truck of the Year, and it belongs to none other than the Ford Super Duty. Outmuscling rivals such as the Chevy Colorado and the Silverado EV, the Super Duty secures Ford’s 16th NACTOY win, maintaining its status as the most decorated brand in the awards’ history. This victory also extends Ford’s four-year reign in the truck category.

Kia EV9 Electrifies as the Utility Champion

Kia electrifies the utility scene with the 2024 North American Utility of the Year accolade bestowed upon the three-row EV9. Following in the footsteps of its EV6 predecessor, the EV9 stands out as one of the rare three-row electric options, offering not just space but practicality. This marks the eighth win for the Hyundai Motor Group, a no-brainer for Utility of the Year, given the competition, which included the Genesis Electrified GV70 and the Hyundai Kona and Kona Electric.

In the vibrant landscape of automotive excellence, the 2024 NACTOY winners represent a dynamic trio, each bringing its own flavor to the road.
