Mini’s Epic Road Trip: “Takes the States” Summer Adventure

Get ready for an exhilarating journey as Mini enthusiasts gear up for another cross-country escapade this summer. Dubbed “Mini Takes the States” (MTTS), this rally promises a thrilling eight-day adventure, uniting hundreds of Mini fans in a celebration of all things Mini.

From Albuquerque to Seattle: Unveiling the Route

In mid-July, the caravan kicks off its epic journey from Albuquerque, N.M., making its way through five states and nine cities before reaching its final destination in Seattle. Mini owners and their passengers, numbering in the hundreds, are anticipated to join in for either a segment or the entire journey.

MTTS made its debut in 2006, marking the introduction of the first hardcore GP edition of Mini’s high-performance John Cooper Works model. Since then, it has evolved into a biennial event, with each rally charting a unique course across the United States.

More than Just a Drive: Building Connections and Celebrating Mini Culture

Contrary to competitive events, MTTS aims to foster connections among Mini owners, providing them with a platform to share their passion for the brand and their unique experiences. Mini plans engaging festivities along the route, including a “Rally Finale” on the last evening. While participants cover their own expenses for hotels and most meals, Mini chips in for breakfasts and select evening events, creating a positive vibe for the brand and boosting Mini sales.

Recognizing that cars, even Minis, may need some TLC on the road, technicians will be available along the MTTS route to handle repairs such as engine computer diagnostics, light bulb replacements, tire changes, and other minor fixes.

The Scenic Route: Mini Takes the West

Starting from New Mexico, participants will traverse through Colorado and Utah, making their way to Salt Lake City. The journey continues through the picturesque landscapes of Montana, with stops in Bozeman and Missoula, before heading west to Spokane, Wash. Finally, the adventure concludes with a scenic drive through the mountains and valleys of Yakima, culminating in the vibrant city of Seattle.

Mike Peyton, Vice President and “Chief Motorer” for Mini of the Americas, expressed excitement about reconnecting with Mini owners nationwide and creating lasting memories in the stunning western states. Reflecting on the unique nature of the event, Peyton mentioned the carefully curated adventure, promising an unforgettable experience for the Mini community.

In 2022, MTTS covered 1,700 miles over eight days, starting in Burlington, Vt., and concluding in Spartanburg, S.C. Over 2,000 people participated at different points, showcasing their 800 Minis along the way. This year’s mobile party kicks off on July 13, and updates can be found on Mini’s website, with a recap of the 2022 rally available in the video below. Get ready for Mini’s ultimate road trip!
